In addition to the facelifts for the 5er and the 6 series Gran Turismo and the P lugin hybrids X2 xDrive 25e are traditionally available before Sommer carried out a series of model upgrade measures across the model range.

Mild hybrids with 48V on-board power supply and electrical assistance with 8 kW /11 PS short-term generator output are used in many petrol and diesel models from 3 to 7 and the SUV from X3 to X7.

In-line six-cylinder diesel complies with Euro 6d

BMW
The BMW X7 xDrive 40d develops 340 hp.

The newly developed in-line six-cylinder diesel with three liters of displacement is not Only available in the revised 530d, but from summer 2020 also in the BMW 7 Series, the X3 and the Coupé variant X4 as well as the larger siblings X5 and X6. The unit develops 286 hp, 21 horsepower more than before. The injection pressure rose to 2,700 bar, the maximum torque to 650 Newton meters. Mild hybrid technology is also used here.

The turbodiesel with 340 hp, known from the BMW M340d, is also used in the 7 Series (740d /Ld Drive), X3 /X4 M40d and X7 xDrive 40d offered. It is already available for the X5 and X6, as well as for the revised 6 Series GT.

Both versions of the six-cylinder diesel meet thisEmission standard Euro 6d and use a double emission control with SCR catalysts. A similar system, called Twin Dosing, is also used in TDI models from the Volkswagen Group.

The 7 and 8 Series can be ordered with an optimized integral active steering as an option. Even at very low speeds of less than three km /h, the rear wheels are turned in opposite directions, which offers advantages when parking and maneuvering.

BMW Operating System 7 in more models

The new BMW Operating System 7 also moves into the 3 Series models that are not equipped with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which is available at an additional cost. A redesigned digital instrument cluster with a 5.1-inch display in its center is part of the standard equipment. The BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant with extended voice control also responds to the call 'Hey, BMW'.

In the 1 Series and 2 Series Gran Coupé, the BMW Operating System 7 is part of the BMW Live Cockpit Plus optional equipment.

The engine range of the still fresh BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé will be expanded shortly after the market launch. There are also the 218d Gran Coupé with 150 hp and the 220d xDrive Gran Coupé with 190 hp diesel. The eight-speed automatic transmission is standard here; it is available for an extra charge on the 218d.

Regardless of the model and engine, drivers of new BMW models benefit from an expanded option of integrating their own smartphone. In addition to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto is finally available. The connection can be established wirelessly via WLAN.

Plug-in hybrids recognize environmental zones

BMW
The plug-in hybrids can automatically switch to electric drive when entering environmental zones.

The Driving Assistant Professional option is another step towards automated driving. Depending on the model series, the navigation system's route guidance indicates lane changes, which the driver can then have an appropriate assistance system carry out. In addition, the car can help you create an emergency lane by automatically heading for the respective edge of the lane.

When driving in the city, thenew BMW eDrive Zone function used in plug-in hybrids. A designated environmental zone is recognized in currently 80 European cities via the GPS system and geo-fencing. The drive then automatically switches to electric and thus locally emission-free driving. The prerequisite for this is that the battery is sufficiently charged.
