Audi RS4 Avant/RS5: New competition packages

Audi wants to offer even more driving fun in both RS models. Accordingly, there are modified chassis, different exhaust systems and new decorative elements.

Audi's RS models thrive on their sporty design. But because this is probably not sporty enough for all customers, Audi is now adding a Competition and a Competition Plus package for the RS4 Avant and the RS5. The competition package focuses on the look and more sound. If the plus is added, there is also a further tightened chassis.

More top speed, more driving dynamics

All Competition buyers can definitely look forward to an increased speed limit, because Audi lets the RS models run at speeds of up to 290 km/h. Also new is the fixed transmission ratio of the dynamic steering at a ratio of 1:13.1, with which Audi promises even more precise handling. Audi achieves a particularly rear-biased drive design with a differently tuned sport differential. New software for the transmission control shortens shift times. The Audi RS4 Avant with the Competition package sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, an improvement of 0.2 seconds compared to the series model. The Audi RS5 Coupé and the RS5 Sportback complete the sprint in 3.8 seconds, an improvement of 0.1 seconds.

But the RS models are not only quicker, they are also quicker and slower. A newly tuned ABS, in combination with highly adhesive Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires, reduces the braking distance from 100 km/h by up to two metres. Audi achieves more sound with new exhaust systems, which can be recognized by the matt black tailpipes. So that the passengers on board also benefit, around eight kilograms of insulating material between the engine and the interior are omitted. The Emotions package is rounded off by tightened, software-controlled load changes.,

The new RS sports suspension Pro, which is part of the Plus package, is designed as a manually adjustable coilover suspension with a higher spring rate, three-way adjustable dampers and stiffer stabilizers. Compared to the standard RS models, the center of gravity is ten millimeters lower. A further lowering by ten millimeters is also possible.

Many black elements

Both competition packages are also pleasing to the eye. The seat side panels gleam in black piano finish. On request, a Dinamica-pearl nappa combination further enhances the standard RS sport seats. The lettering and logos on the body are painted glossy black. Matching this, the exterior color Sebring black crystal effect is available for the first time for the RS4 and RS5. Even more dark elements are contributed by optionally black 20-inch rims and the standard gloss black optics package, which is also optionally available in a gloss carbon look. The package is available in matt carbon exclusively for the Competition models. The add-on parts, including the exterior mirrors, front blade, side flaps, inserts for the sill extensions and rear diffuser, are made of matt carbon. All other add-on parts shine in black.

The all-round increased emotions are of course for sale. The competition package costs 7,875 euros extra. If you check the Competition Plus package, you will be asked to pay a surcharge of 11,875 euros.,

Conclusion

Audi sharpens the RS4 Avant and the RS5 models with new competition packages. They promise more driving dynamics at prices of around 8,000 and almost 12,000 euros. With these tariffs, however, going to the tuner could also be an option.
