T he new Audi RS5 tickles 450 hp and 600 Newton meters from the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6. In the first attempt, Abt Sportsline increased the performance to around 510 hp and 680 Newton meters. For the Geneva Motor Show 2018 it can be a little more. In figures: 530 PS and 690 Newton meters.

Abt-Audi RS5-R 280 km /h fast

As usual, Abt achieves the increase in performance via an additional control unit (Abt Power S). The tuner promises better sprint qualities. The Abt-Audi RS5-R should accelerate to 100 km /h in 3.6 seconds. That would be a time gain of three tenths of a second compared to the 1.75 ton series coupé. To put it into perspective: Sports cars such as the rear-wheel drive Lamborghini Huracán Spyder or the Mercedes-AMG GT R sprint to country road speed in 3.6 seconds. Abt specifies the top speed at 280 km /h.

For better cornering, Abt has installed new sport stabilizers on the front and rear axles as well as coilover suspension springs. A KW coilover kit is still under development, the damper of which the tuner wants to taste in-house. So that the biturbo V6 makes more noise, Abt has equipped the RS5-R with a new exhaust system. The rear is decorated with four carbon tailpipes, each 102 millimeters in diameter. In other words: four apples fit in there that the pimped sports coupé could quickly stew into baked apples. To the taste of the tuning fans.

Almost 115,000 euros expensive sports coupé

Abt upgrades the front of the vehicle with flics and another splitter. The single frame grill is re-framed. The front wheel arches, in which 21-inch wheels with 275/25 tires turn, are characterized by ventilation gills. For the rear, the designers came up with a new rear apron insert, the four-pipe exhaust system and a lip on the trunk lid. All attachments are made of carbon fiber. The Abt Aerorad Racing Gold rims, presented as a concept study at its premiere, are really hot. The complete set is now available as a limited, 21-inch series for 11,690 euros for the RS 4 and RS 5.

The Abt-Audi RS5-R costs 114,890 euros.

Abt limited the RS5-R to 50 copies. Customers can also expect changes in the interior. These include partial leather seats with RS5-R lettering, a carbon cover for the gear selector lever and carbonized shift paddles on the back of the steering wheel. There are also door sill trims, door entry lighting and floor mats.

The package price is 29,900 euros - plus 3,200 euros for assembly. If you want to get the complete RS5-R right away, you pay just under 115,000 euros. For comparison: The basic RS5 costs 80,900 euros.
