E times a year the English Sunday Times throws the big calculator. The base salary, sponsorship money and victory bonuses are added up and at the end there is a large list with the 100 richest athletes in the world. Since those affected are reluctant to talk about money themselves, the list should be treated with caution. We don't want to withhold it from you though.

The first name on the list is Tiger Woods. Despite private escapades, the golf professional earned a total of 668 million euros. After the divorce last year, however, the account balance is likely to have shrunk somewhat. Michael Schumacher, the first German athlete, appears just behind Woods. With 632 million euros, you can also live quite comfortably.

Woods and Schumacher well ahead

Woods and Schumacher are by far at the top of the ranking. Basketball legend Michael Jordan is clearly distant with 'only' 396 billion. Schumi's colleagues from Formula 1 cannot keep up either. Kimi Räikkönen and Fernando Alonso shared 18th place with 123 million euros.

In our photo gallery we show you which motorsport people made it into the top 100.
