D he development race in Formula 1 is slowly picking up speed . In Australia, the cars showed little change compared to the test drives. In Malaysia there were already significantly more updates to discover for the technology fans.

Cooling and performance updates in Malaysia

The engineers made modifications to the cars due to the hot weather forced. The cooling openings in the rear grew everywhere to prevent heat build-up under the fairing. The gills were most pronounced in Williams. Mercedes also had to make clearly recognizable cuts in the fairing.

Most of the performance upgrades could be seen on the McLaren in Malaysia. For the second race, the engineers had installed an S-shaft in the front. Similar to Force India and Red Bull, the air is drawn up through the nose from the bottom up. This is supposed to separate the air slightly from the chassis, which reduces air resistance.

In addition to the S-bay, McLaren has also installed a number of other aero updates. As usual, we will show you the highlights from the technology front in detail in the picture gallery.
