Formula 1 is playing a very important role at Mercedes this year. But on Tuesday (March 2nd) the Autosalon in Geneva Michael Schumacher alone is not the focus of interest. The highlight was the presentation of the new M ercedes SLS AMG Formula 1 safety cars .

Of course, Schumi and team-mate Nico Rosberg were also there to unveil the third Silver Arrow in the Formula 1 field. The gullwing was ceremoniously presented to the public together with Daimler boss Dieter Zetsche.

With 571 hp, the Mercedes SLS AMG is the most powerful safety car of all time. Thanks to a powerful 650 Newton meters of torque, it goes to 100 km /h in 3.8 seconds. As if the SLS weren't so conspicuous already, the AMG specialists donated the complete safety car combat gear, consisting of Formula 1 stickers, the big one Light bars on the roof and a number plate with 700 LEDs.

AMG safety cars have a long tradition

In 2010 the SLS replaced the SL 63 AMG, the has ensured safety on the Grand Prix circuits for the past three years. The gullwing is continuing a great tradition: Formula 1 safety cars have been made by AMG for 14 years.
