B arcelona is a wonderful route to test. But it is not suitable for racing. If the man from pole position wins 19 times at 25 Grand Prix, that speaks for itself. Most of the time, the Grand Prix on the Circuit de Catalunya is a dreary procession. So this time too. The highlights can then be counted on the fingers of one hand.

Sainz and Kvyat offer some action

At the end of the GP Spain we got at least a nice duel between the Finns Vatteri Bottas and Kimi Räikkönen presents. And a wheel-to-wheel fight at the Red Bull Camp. Daniil Kvyat versus Carlos Sainz.

The Toro Rosso Junior won. With contact with the enemy. Whereupon Sainz had to flee through the emergency exit. The stewards promptly initiated an investigation. Because Kvyat changed lanes three times and Sainz had left the track on all four wheels.

Long investigation without penalty

Two and a half hours later, the redeeming result: It was a normal racing accident. Luckily. If you had been penalized, you would have stalled one of the few highlights of the fifth World Championship round.

People want to see such duels. Kvyat's zigzag course didn't particularly impress Sainz. And Sainz had the nose of his Toro Rosso ahead when he turned into the first corner and was then pushed off the track by Kvyat. So it didn't matter at all whether or not he gained an advantage. This examination could really have been saved. The TV pictures spoke for themselves.
