Sauber upgrade in Singapore: This is the new Sauber nose

Clean upgrade in Singapore
Subscriptions & booklets

F ure every point currently counts for Sauber. The placement in the World Cup has a direct impact on the cash awards for 2016. After 12 races, last year's World Championship tenth is eighth. 10 points behind Toro Rosso and 8 points ahead of McLaren. In the last 3 races, Sauber could always score - with a little luck. On the fast tracks at Spa and Monza, there was less downforce than usual. That came towards the blue car.

The next 2 race tracks on the calendar are less gracious, however. In Singapore and Suzuka, contact pressure is the decisive criterion. And for that, Sauber brings the second major upgrade of the season after the Spanish GP. A feat of strength for a team that continues to operate with tight finances.

Clean with a new short nose in Singapore

We saw some of the new parts for the first time before training for the Singapore GP . The Sauber C34 has changed its face with the expansion stage. He loses his long, massive duckbill and joins Red Bull, Toro Rosso and McLaren. All three shortened their noses during the season.

To match, the technicians made a new front wing, as well as corresponding guide plates under the front. The rear wing is also new, the diffuser has been revised and the bonnet is now closer. The bottle neck shape in the rear is much more pronounced. There was also new brake ventilation at the front and rear. In the gallery we have the first pictures of the conversion.

The retreaded C34 is supposed to drive into the points on its own in the last 7 races. 'I can hardly wait to drive in the car,' said Felipe Nasr, who has been waiting for World Championship points since the Monaco GP.
