D he training result of the first training day is from Renault's point of view two points noteworthy. With places five and seven, the cars under the banner of the French automotive company reported back to the top teams' league after two mediocre races. Vitaly Petrov was also able to place in front of Robert Kubica, and that was a real rarity this year.

Kubica: Other teams have gained more

The strong performance of the Renault drivers immediately made them the secret favorites again in paddock circles. Robert Kubica brakes. The third of the Monaco GP does not believe that the result from Monte Carlo can be repeated, where Kubica was able to take the podium on his own. 'The Hungaroring suits us more than Silverstone, for example, but I can't imagine there will be a second Monaco. Other teams have gained more relative to us.'

The Pole doesn't want that as a criticism understand his team's development work. 'It was clear that we would not be able to maintain this pace of development over the entire season. In a season like this there are always phases where you stagnate or others make greater progress.'

Kubica: Red Bull-Tempo is unbelievable

Renault has taken a step forward for the Hungarian GP compared to Hockenheim. The engine increased in power. 'When we had to change the exhaust for the blown diffuser, we lost some power,' reveals Kubica. 'We have now compensated for that.'

Red Bull and Ferrari seem out of reach in Budapest. From Kubica's point of view, Red Bull's lap times in particular are frustrating: 'You think you're doing a good lap, the car feels good, and then you read that the Red Bulls are a second faster. Their pace is just incredible. '
