J enson Button spoke the closing words at the winners' press conference : 'The Singapore circuit showed the class differences of the cars more clearly than any other circuit. Nowhere were the gaps so great.' And nowhere are the truths so bitter. Unless you work for Red Bull or Force India.

Red Bull outclassed the competition with every trick in the book. If Mark Webber were not at war with this route, it would have been a clear one-two for the blue missiles. McLaren consolidated second place. And that on a route that Ferrari should actually play all cards into its hands. But Ferrari stumbled upon excessive tire wear. Handling tires under extreme conditions is actually one of the red cars' strengths. And more of a weak point of McLaren. This time it was the other way around.

Mercedes GP weakest Mercedes team

When it comes to tires, Mercedes was caught up with problems that had long been believed to have been overcome. The car has too many diseases to be able to cure them all in one season. Force India clearly ripped off Mercedes. The Mercedes customer was the fourth force in Singapore. Bad luck stays clean. Sergio Perez had the speed of Force India in the race, but the Mexican was always in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Toro Rosso suffered a major setback in the three-way battle for sixth place. This time even Williams was on par. But there were no points for the traditional racing team from Grove. In the race trim you are a tad too slow for the top ten. Renault drifted into the valley of misery. They fought with Lotus for the last places in midfield.

Virgin couldn't get to his feet. The hope that the new aerodynamics package would pay off in Singapore in particular was disappointed. Virgin even had to watch out for Hispania.
