D he GP Mexico was a special race. An unknown route at an altitude of 2,250 meters, extremely smooth asphalt, no experience from the past. Concern about the brakes and high engine temperatures required compromises. Actually a good base for surprises. But Mercedes was not surprised. Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton secured the tenth double victory of the season.

Ferrari cannot show progress

After five laps, the Mercedes D-Zug began to pull away from the field. With a lead of 31 seconds on lap 46, it was even enough to make a safety stop for fresh tires. Nevertheless, the Mercedes tandem was still 27 seconds ahead of Valtteri Bottas when the safety car pushed the field together. In the last 14 laps, the Silver Arrows again brought out a lead of 12.7 seconds.

There is no better way to document superiority. And yet Ferrari was closer. The red cars could only show their qualities in practice. Sebastian Vettel was only 0.370 seconds short of pole position. Half the gap from normal.

In the race, the drivers had a pitch-black day. Two accidents earned Ferrari the first zero. Vettel could at least indicate in the sandwich of the Mercedes drivers that he would have been a respectable opponent for the Silver Arrows in normal form.

Safety- Car helps Williams against Red Bull

The reason for Ferrari's boom had nothing to do with new parts on the car. The height leveled out the differences in performance. The lower drag helped weaker engines. That's why Red Bull was with the music. Daniil Kvyat and Daniel Ricciardo made up for half a second that was lost on the home straight in sectors 2 and 3.

The Red Bull duel against Williams was decided by the SafetyCar. It gave Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa the second pit stop. At the restart, Kvyat had no chance against the Mercedes power from Bottas.
