D so we can still experience that. And in the second race. Mercedes is beatable. In open battle on the racetrack. Without technical problems or strategic errors. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff said in no uncertain terms: 'We lost because Ferrari was faster.'

Mercedes failed because of its own strength. Too much downforce can sometimes be a hindrance. That stresses the tires. Do you remember Red Bull and the first half of the 2013 season? It was the same there.

Ferrari remains number 2 in the power ranking

The Mercedes defeat required special conditions. Extreme heat and a track layout that challenges the tires. That made Mercedes vulnerable. The Silver Arrows had to stop three times. Two tire changes were enough for Ferrari.

Conclusion: On one lap, the Mercedes AMGW06 is still a force. But in racing trim Ferrari comes close to the defending champion. If everything goes well, it's enough to win. That gives hope.

Williams defended his status as number 3 in the field. But this time without a chance against Ferrari. The Williams has the same problem as the Mercedes. Only more extreme. The car is too demanding on the tires. Despite the problems, the white cars are clearly ahead of the Red Bull Armada. And a palace revolution is in progress there. Toro Rosso is the A-Team, Red Bull only second choice.
