I nterlagos was always a route with tight intervals. Even when Red Bull, Ferrari or McLaren dominated. Even last year with Mercedes at the top. The best in training, Nico Rosberg, was 0.224 seconds faster than the best from another team. This year 0.522 seconds separated the first from the third.

Only Ferrari not lapped

Last year Williams was down 41 seconds back in the race. This time the best Mercedes customer team was lapped. In return, Ferrari reduced the gap in the race from 62 to 14 seconds compared to 2014. But winner Rosberg only drove as fast as he had to. Whenever Lewis Hamilton moved up, he accelerated. In the last 10 laps he slowed down. Then Hamilton's gap began to grow to over 2.5 seconds.

There were also large gaps in the chasing field. Williams finished 16 seconds ahead of Force India. Nico H├╝lkenberg had Daniil Kvyat in the rearview mirror all the time, but thanks to Mercedes power he was able to easily fend off the Red Bull driver on the straight. The premiere of the new Renault engine was a flop. Daniel Ricciardo was therefore slower than Kvyat in the standard version.
