Ferrari responded to seven Red Bull victories with a double whammy. Even in front of the opponent's front door. Since the top speed deficit has been reduced, Ferrari has slightly the upper hand again.
After seven defeats in a row, Ferrari was already hanging on the ropes. Either Red Bull was faster or smarter. Ferrari defeated themselves at least three times. It was all the more important for Ferrari to hit back on the two Red Bull home tracks. At Silverstone with a bit of luck on the side. A week later in Spielberg with less tire wear.
Red Bull and Ferrari were about the same speed at the Red Bull Ring. In qualifying, the two World Championship opponents were separated by 27 thousandths, in the sprint it was 1.675 seconds after 23 laps. On average, that was the tiny difference of 73 thousandths. In the race, the picture was clearer. Charles Leclerc passed Max Verstappen on lap 12 and lasted 13 laps longer on his first set of tires. Ferrari beat Red Bull on better tire wear.
Haas is gaining ground
Mercedes is now also fast on a fear track. Still missing two to three tenths to the top. But at least it's in sight now. Hamilton and Russell got in each other's way with their accidents on Friday. That had an effect right into the main race. In any case, the trend is correct. The Silver Arrows should be able to win after the summer break.
In the large midfield, Alpine is increasingly taking over the supremacy. The latest upgrades are working. McLaren has to step up if you want to catch the French again. The duel between Ferrari customers recently went to Haas. Although the Americans continue to compete with an unchanged car. A good understanding can also help. For Alpha Tauri and Aston Martin, the curve points downwards. For them, Alexander Albon is slowly becoming a danger in the converted Williams.
