New Alfa Romeo livery for Azerbaijan GP

Azerbaijan GP 2022

Alfa Romeo will compete in a new look at the Azerbaijan GP. The C42 was given an all-green tail for the Baku trip to complement the colors of the Italian flag. We show you the first pictures of the new livery.

The ten Formula 1 teams used color extremely sparingly this year. Recently, every gram of superfluous paint has been scraped off on many cars in order to save weight. The only 2022 generation model that was under the limit from the start was the Alfa Romeo C42. The engineers in Hinwil, Switzerland, had already taken care during development that the new racer would not be overweight.

Except for some visible carbon on the cockpit sides, the cars of Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou have been completely wrapped in the traditional Alfa Romeo Motorsport color scheme: red at the front, white in the middle and red again at the rear. But the fans will have to dress up for the upcoming race weekend get used to a new look. The PR department made the racing car for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix even more colourful.

Italian flag on the C42

In addition to red and white, there is now a large green area on the hood at the rear. The C42 will roll through the streets of Baku in the look of the Italian tricolor. Incidentally, the timing of the special paintwork is no coincidence. Alfa Romeo celebrates the launch of the "Tonale" road model. The new SUV will be in the showrooms of European dealerships for the first time this weekend.

The "Tonale" lettering isn't the only thing on the green area in the rear. You can also see the distinctive headlight look of the production vehicle. The racing car's new color scheme was developed in the Italian carmaker's Centro Stile. Both Sauber and Alfa Romeo once again emphasized the good and successful cooperation between the two partners when presenting the paintwork.

The look could already be seen briefly on Thursday during the first pit stop practice session in front of the team's garage. On Friday afternoon, the pilots will take to the slopes for the first time in their modified racers. In the gallery we are already showing you a few impressions of the new look.
