D he Formula 1 fans can get this Weekend in Singapore looking forward to a great three-way battle. Mercedes gets a lot of resistance from the pursuers. Red Bull in particular is attacking. In the second session on Friday (September 18th, 2015) Daniil Kvyat surprisingly marked the first training best time of his career.

Kvyat best time with used Tires

Even more astonishing: The Russian drove the fastest lap in 1: 46.142 minutes, not on the first but on the second attempt. On the first attempt, Romain Grosjean ran into him. At the second attempt, the tires weren't in such good shape, but there was no traffic.

Red Bull team-mate Daniel Ricciardo was also hampered on his fastest lap. Otherwise the Australian would certainly have had a say about the fastest time. So it was 'only' the third place for the Australian. Between the two Red Bulls, Kimi Räikkönen in the Ferrari, who only missed the fastest time by 39 thousandths of a second.

Mercedes not satisfied with training performance

Lewis Hamilton surprisingly had to be content with fourth place . The gap of more than 3 tenths to the top was no accident. Even in the long runs, Mercedes couldn't match the performances of Red Bull and Ferrari. Nico Rosberg in the sister car was even slower. The World Cup runner-up only came in 7th.

'We are not satisfied with the performance shown', Toto Wolff scolded afterwards. 'We didn't get the tires into the window properly - neither on a fast lap nor on the long run. We have to put our heads together again.'

McLaren significantly improved

Between the two Mercedes, Sebastian Vettel in the second Ferrari landed in 5th place and Force India driver Sergio Perez in 6th place . The Spaniard finished eighth, even finishing one place ahead of Nico Hülkenberg in the second Force India. The last top ten place went to Max Verstappen in the Toro Rosso.

Williams, like in the first practice session, did not cut a good figure. Felipe Massa (11th place) and Valtteri Bottas (17th place) are traditionally not as far ahead on Fridays as they were in the race. But against the top 3 teams Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari you seem to have no chance.
