D he phase of weakness at Red Bull seems to be over. After the points diet on the fast stretches in Spa and Monza, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber are noticeably better able to cope with the angular street circuit in Singapore. With two best times in the first two training sessions, Vettel even managed to become the favorites for the rest of the race weekend. After the competition had presented, the German raced to the top with 1: 48.340 minutes. It must be noted, however, that the conditions on the slippery street circuit improved with every minute.

McLaren and Alonso as the first pursuers

Jenson Button was up right in front of Vettel gone his fast run. The McLaren driver finally landed in second place, three tenths behind. Third place went to Fernando Alonso, who has to fight a lot more in Singapore than in Monza. The championship leader was half a second short.

Fourth and fifth places went to Mark Webber's second Red Bull and Lewis Hamilton's second McLaren. Behind them, two surprise guests landed at the top of the top ten. The Force India duo recorded the sixth and seventh best times. Paul di Resta won the team-internal duel against Nico Hülkenberg with a lead of 39 thousandths.

Mercedes and Lotus with potential for improvement

The Mercedes drivers could not yet show that the converted Silver Arrow has taken a step forward. With a new exhaust, Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher finished eighth and eleven. There is still work to be done at Lotus. Romain Grosjean reported back from his suspension in Monza in tenth place. Kimi Räikkönen landed in twelfth place.

Timo Glock, on the other hand, has reason to be happy. In both sessions, the German finished 19th in front of the Caterham cars. According to Glock, Marussia doesn't have any major updates on the car.

Senna slip causes abortion

Bruno Senna caused the only upset in the second training session. The Brazilian lost control of his Williams when braking into Turn 20. After a kiss on the wall and a spin, he had to park the car. The second session was briefly interrupted to recover the wrecked Williams.
