L ewis Hamilton has everything in the Hungaroring Handle. After setting the fastest time at the start in the morning, the world champion and four-time Hungarian winner slammed the fastest lap into the asphalt, which was up to 54 degrees hot, in the second 90-minute training session. This time in 1: 23.949 minutes.

Hamilton clearly faster than Rosberg

In the morning, his record was 1: 25.141 minutes. However, on the medium tires. In the afternoon, the softer set made for a clear time jump.

Nico Rosberg in the second Mercedes did not slide behind the defending champion as usual. The German had to be content with fourth place. Above all, the considerable deficit of 0.719 seconds on the teammates should cause Rosberg to ponder.

Both Red Bulls got between the Silver Arrows in the second training session. Daniil Kvyat did a slightly better job. The young Russian was just 0.351 seconds short of Hamilton in the lead. Daniel Ricciardo (+0.502 seconds) underlined that Red Bull can be expected at the Hungaroring.

The Red Bull RB11 particularly likes the slow and medium-fast corners of the 4.381-kilometer route. On the Hungaroring, the good chassis can hide the power deficiencies of the Renault engine. This was previously not possible in Canada, Austria and Silverstone.

Ferrari only the third force on Friday

Small downer: about 20 minutes before the end, Ricciardo rolled along smoking stern, which caused the only interruption. According to Red Bull motorsport advisor Helmut Marko, the racing engine was not yet installed in the car. So luck in bad luck for last year's winner Ricciardo.

Ferrari had to queue up on Friday. Kimi Raikkonen came in fifth. The gap to the top is very large at 1.185 seconds. Team mate Sebastian Vettel even had to be content with seventh place. In his first run on the soft tire, the Heppenheimer blundered and turned. During the long runs with a lot of fuel on board he suffered the mishap again later. Carlos Sainz in the Toro Rosso slipped in between the Ferrari.

For McLaren, however, things are going much better in Hungary than they were last time. Fernando Alonso took eighth place. Jenson Button was 12. New engine maps appear to be the Honda engineto make it more mobile. At the end of the top 10, Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa, the two Williams, who, as is well known, always use a little more fuel than the competition on Fridays, pushed themselves up to the top. h3>

Mostly Lotus and Force India have homework to do. Lotus in terms of speed, Force India in terms of safety. Because Sergio Perez left in the morning, Nico Hulkenberg stayed in the pits all afternoon. The team first wants to research the cause of the accident before venturing back out onto the track. The engineers suspect a broken wishbone as the reason for the Perez departure. However, it is not clear whether it is the upper or the lower. Because the car was badly damaged in the rollover, the analysis is dragging on.
