N after the rainy Friday the formula 1- Pilots pack the complete test program into one hour in the third training session on Saturday morning. In dry but cool conditions (14 ° C), all teams prepared for qualifying. As expected, the spectators could see a lot of activity on the track.
Alonso sets the last training record
The fastest driver in the end was Fernando Alonso in the Ferrari. The world championship leader lapped the 7.004 kilometer long Ardennes roller coaster in 1: 48.542 minutes. With a lot of traffic on the track and various setup programs that were tried out in the short training period, the placements are not quite as meaningful as usual.
It is also not surprising that the classification is mixed . One and a half tenth behind Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen took second place with his Lotus. Sergio Perez recorded the third-best time, ahead of his Sauber team-mate Kamui Kobayashi.
The best McLaren was Jenson Button in fifth. Lewis Hamilton only ended up in twelfth place. However, the chrome arrows were on the road for a long time with a lot of fuel to collect data for the race on Sunday.
Red Bull with reserves
Behind Felipe's second Ferrari Massa ranked Mark Webber as the best Red Bull driver in seventh place. Sebastian Vettel, who drove the ninth fastest time, was not entirely convincing either. However, both Red Bull drivers set their fastest laps on the harder tire compound. The world championship team seems to have some reserves.
In the middle of the Red Bull sandwich, Romain Grosjean pushed himself into eighth place in the second Lotus. The last top ten place went to Paul di Resta in Force India. The first ten drivers were within only eight and a half tenths, which suggests an exciting qualifying.
Rosberg has to park the Silver Arrows with a defect
Mercedes experienced a messed up dryness -The start of the spa weekend. Michael Schumacher only finished 13th and seems to have to fight for a place in the top 10 qualifying. For team mate Nico Rosberg, the third training session was over after just five laps. Without propulsion, he had to park his Silver Arrow at the edge of the track. The first remote diagnosis indicates a gearbox damage.
Nico Hülkenberg landed in the second Force India in 14th place, directly behind Schumi. Timo Glockonce again only came 20th. However, the Marussia in Spa seem to be closer to the Caterhams than usual.
