D ass Jarno Trulli is an expert if it's about burning a fast lap on the asphalt is well known. The brisk Italian with the unusual driving style has already bitten many teeth.

Alonso, Button & Co. without success against Trulli

The 35-year-old from Pescara is particularly strong in the narrow streets of Monaco. Not only did he clinch his first and only Grand Prix victory here in 2004, he is also still unbeaten in the team's internal qualifying duel. Well-known drivers such as Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button, Ralf Schumacher and Timo Glock have tried it 13 times. Without success.

This year a new candidate will try to break the impressive series. In Australia and Malaysia, Heikki Kovalainen was able to outperform his teammates this season. Will he succeed in the Principality?

Kovalainen expects a tough fight

'He's really damn fast here', Kovalainen dampens his chances against the much more experienced teammate. 'It's going to be very difficult.' However, leaving trulli behind is not the top priority for the Finns. 'I always want to beat everyone as possible,' said the Lotus driver.

The most important opponent outside the team is Virgin. Timo Glock doesn't think his chances are good in Monaco. 'Apart from my transmission problems, we were about equally strong in practice. But I think Lotus has something up its sleeve.' Kovalainen's sober comment: 'We do not underestimate anyone.' Incidentally, nothing has been modified on the car since training. 'It felt good. We haven't changed anything because of it.'
