D The FIA has the list with it published the used development token. The line-up reveals something surprising. Ferrari has already used 23 of 32 tokens to convert the engine over the winter. There are only 9 tokens left for further changes during the season.
Renault is only using 7 motor tokens
Renault was the most economical in development. The French have only redeemed 7 tokens - so only little improvements have been made to the power unit. The newly formed engine department in Viry-Chatillon, which is now supported by Ilmor in England, has left 25 tokens for the season.
The other two engine manufacturers have balanced the program a little better. Mercedes has used 19 tokens and has 13 left. Honda has used 18 - among other things for a larger turbo and improvements in the hybrid area - and can add 14 tokens in the season.
Formula 1 motor tokens 2016:
- Ferrari 23 (9 remaining)
- Honda 18 (14 remaining)
- Mercedes 19 (13 remaining)
- Renault 7 (25 remaining)
