It was a last minute rescue. The former Campos team wants to have new staff at the top and under the new name H ispania Racing but still participate in the 2010 Formula 1 season. On Wednesday there wasn't much to see of the Spaniards in the paddock.
Hispania Racing is hiding
While the other teams were working hard on their cars, The newcomer's garage door stayed closed until the afternoon. Even a look from the back of the box did not exclude the progress made with the gray HRT bolide. Only a few chassis parts could be seen behind the screen. The hustle and bustle of the occasional scurrying team was limited. Only in the evening did the doors open. Before the individual parts become Formula 1 cars, a lot of work still has to be invested.
But with the team you try to calm down. The team trusts the potential and is looking forward to its first race weekend in Bahrain. The goals remain cautious but optimistic: 'With our driver staff we have the opportunity to belong to the more successful teams this year', explained team boss Colin Kolles.
Double Formula 1 debut for Senna and Chandhok
The pilots are more realistic about the whole thing. Bruno Senna explained in the paddock on Wednesday that Friday would be mainly used for installation rounds. 'We can only think about the setup on Saturday at the earliest.' The focus on the first race weekend is reliability. You can also get fast later. 'I hope that we can get the car out on the track and eliminate as many problems as possible.'
When the car is ready, Karun Chandhok can make his Formula 1 debut alongside Senna. 'Finishing the race would be a fantastic success for the team. I want to collect as many kilometers as possible.' By Friday at the latest we will see if the garage door at Hispania Racing still opens.
