B e Force India felt the relief in Silverstone . 'After the first few laps in the new car, I knew that we had taken a big step in the right direction,' recalls Nico Hülkenberg. 'I had a big grin on my face.'

The first impression with the big update package was not wrong. With places 7 and 9, Force India collected valuable points in the team classification. The lead over the direct competitor Lotus could be increased to 10 points. After the good performance, team boss Vijay Mallya has now adjusted the goals slightly upwards.

Mallya wants to reduce the gap to Red Bull

'In the last 4 races we have collected a total of 28 points. And in Budapest the chances are good that even more will come. At the beginning of the season we set 5th place as our goal. That is certainly achievable. Now let's see also on the teams in front of us. We're trying to close the gap further, 'said the Indian confidently.

With 24 points ahead of Force India, Red Bull is currently the first opponent. The former world championship team is unable to win this year due to problems with reliability and weakness on power tracks. But Ricciardo and Kvyat still have an advantage over Force India, especially on winding roads.

Even more potential in Force India B version

Nevertheless, Hülkenberg and Perez travel optimistically to the Danube Metropolis. 'The engineers have taken a very close look at the data in the last few weeks. We cannot afford to stand still. We have to keep going and get more out of the car.' There is even more potential in the package, according to the drivers. Silverstone was just the beginning.

'I think we can be competitive again in Budapest,' said Hülkenberg. 'The slow and medium-fast corners should suit us. Even the tires, which are a little softer than in Silverstone, should and should meet.'
