First Ferrari day: Have fun with simulator work for Vettel

First Ferrari day for Jean-Eric Vergne
Subscriptions & booklets

E actually Jean-Eric Vergne is too good for the test driver job. But because the Frenchman was getting too old for Toro Rosso and it is difficult to find somewhere else as a driver from the Red Bull squad, the 24-year-old had to be content with the job on the Ferrari bench in winter.

First Ferrari day something 'special'

There are currently only races in Formula E for Vergne. Shortly after his 6th place in the race in Buenos Aires, the Frenchman went to Maranello for an inaugural visit to Ferrari. For the first time he was allowed to put on the red team clothes and visit the holy halls. To do this, he met all the important people from the group of engineers and the team management.

'The first day as a Ferrari man is always something special,' said Vergne after he had familiarized himself with his new job. 'I made a little detour to Maranello last night. That's when I realized that this city Ferrari lives and breathes.'

Vergne is doing simulator work for Ferrari

Also being Vergne was able to take a closer look at the new 'office' for the first time. The 58-time Grand Prix starter will support the regular drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen this year primarily with simulators. 'I'll be working a lot in the simulator this year. The first introduction was very helpful. I know Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Räikkönen well and can't wait to work with them.'

Pictures of the new Ferrari will be available on 30 January presented to the public for the first time. The test drives will start for all teams in Jerez on February 1st. It is unlikely that Vergne will get a job. The precious test days on the track are usually reserved for the regular drivers.
