M it the second day of the test let the 9 Formula 1 teams slowly ending the Grand Prix week in Barcelona on Wednesday (May 13th, 2015). For the time being, the last time the engineers and pilots had the chance to collect important data and kilometers. For the rest of the season, there is only one test left in Spielberg at the end of June.

As usual, you saw a lot of cars with large aerodynamic sensors pulling out again in the morning. The knowledge about the course of the flow will help with the development of the next update packages. In addition, endurance runs to test reliability and for tire comparisons were on the program.

Sauber tester Marciello crashes early

2 pilots who were already in action on Tuesday, got a second chance on Wednesday: GP2 junior Pierre Gasly first drove the Toro Rosso, then a direct comparison with the Red Bull was on the agenda. In the end, the Frenchman ended up in third place.

Raffaele Marciello also started the second part of his double shift in the morning. After the factory Ferrari, a test day in the Sauber Ferrari was on the program 24 hours later. For the Italian, however, the session didn't start according to plan. Shortly after the starting gun at turn 3, Marciello slipped off the track, slid through the gravel bed and hit the gang. The front of the cleaner was damaged. After the first break of the day, we went back to the pits on the tow truck. The test program only continued after a three-hour repair. In the less informative time table, Marciello marked the bottom of the table at the end.

Palmer fastest, Wehrlein hardest-working

Actually should Pascal Wehrlein also do a double shift this week. But for health reasons, the DTM driver had to cancel the planned first outing on Tuesday in Force India. On Wednesday, however, the youngster was fit again to take over the factory Mercedes from Nico Rosberg, who had set the fastest time the day before. For Wehrlein, however, it was 'only' enough to finish second. With 137 laps, the young talent at least secured the kilometer crown.

The fastest man on the track was surprisingly Jolyon Palmer in the Lotus. The test driver set the fastest time of the day in 1: 26.080 minutes. The British test driver was more than a second faster than hisTeammates Grosjean and Maldonado in qualifying on Saturday. However, we have to mention at this point that Palmer was also able to fall back on the soft tire compounds and that the grip conditions on the track are not comparable. However, the Lotus pilot did not come close to the weekly best time of Nico Rosberg (1: 24.374 min.) - set up the day before -.
