W hen Formula 1 stops in Italy makes, not only the Tifosi are particularly happy about the spectacle in the Royal Park, but probably also most of those involved in the paddock. Who can resist Italy's pizza, pasta and fantastic weather? On top of that on such a traditional racetrack as Monza, which hosted the first premier class race back in 1950. And sections of the route like Parabolica or Ascari or top speeds of over 350 km /h are music to the ears of real motorsport fans anyway.
Logisticians under pressure
No wonder that you are in the In the streets of Milan on Wednesday (29.8.) A fan festival was held before the Grand Prix, at which Sebastian Vettel and his Ferrari left thick clouds of smoke with wild burnouts of his red goddess. The mechanics and logisticians didn't really enjoy the fun. Once again, they were under extreme pressure because all of the material had to be shipped from Belgium to Italy within a day, the final set-up was on Wednesday and had to be ready on Thursday. Small consolation: It will be the last time this season that the hospitality castles will enrich the paddock. Because with the 14th race of the season the Formula 1 European Tour ends before it goes to Singapore.
Some teams like Williams, Haas F1, Sauber or Racing Point Force India had their houses ready for occupancy on Wednesday afternoon. Ferrari took care of the finishing touches by cleaning the windows, whereas McLaren urgently needs to give the palace a shine. Others like Red Bull or Mercedes were still working. The Energy Station took shape gradually. As always, heavy artillery in the form of huge cranes and lots of forklifts were in use.
Wing variants in front of the pits
You didn't notice much of it in the pit lane. This is where Red Bull and Ferrari barricaded themselves in their garages. At Mercedes we were able to sneak a peek into the box at a favorable moment and discover a heap of parts in front of the garage, at Renault and Williams different front wing variants were presented in front of the roller shutter. The focus on this high-speed course is aerodynamics: This is why the teams are bringing special front wing and rear wing variants to Italy with low downforce. Also an eye-catcher: The supercars like Mercedes AMG GT and Co., which were prepared in the paddock for the hot lap laps.
