F1 Photos Abu Dhabi GP 2022: Pictures from Thursday

Abu Dhabi GP 2022

The Formula 1 circus meets in Abu Dhabi for the last race weekend of the year. A few souvenir photos were already taken in the pit lane on Thursday. Especially with Sebastian Vettel, Mick Schumacher, Daniel Ricciardo and Nichoals Latifi there was a mood of farewell. We have the pictures.

A busy season is coming to an end. In Abu Dhabi, the starting lights go out for the last time this year. Actually, the entire Grand Prix circuit is already in the holiday mood. But there was no sign of a slow coasting in the paddock on Thursday.

First, Haas made the headlines. The decision on the driver choice for 2023 has finally been made public. Mick Schumacher has to hand over his car to Nico Hulkenberg. No wonder that team boss Guenther Steiner had to explain a lot to the reporters during his well-attended media round at lunchtime.

Verstappen is venting

Max Verstappen also needed to speak. The Dutchman was invited to the official FIA press conference to speak about the refusal to direct the stable in Brazil. Instead of defending himself, the world champion used the opportunity to attack. In no uncertain terms, Verstappen complained about the criticism in the press and the hatred on social media.

With his racing team, on the other hand, everything has been clarified. At the obligatory team photo at the end of the season, the pilot presented himself in a relaxed manner. Verstappen joked around with teammate Sergio Perez as if the affair in Sao Paulo had never happened. It was hard to imagine what bad things could have happened in the past that led to the decision in Sao Paulo.

Russell and Vettel swap helmets

At Mercedes, too, the whole team had to line up for a group photo in front of the garage. After the double victory last weekend, the mood was of course great. Toto Wolff was there again this time to personally congratulate George Russell. The team boss had to watch the first success of the year in Brazil on TV.

Sebastian Vettel will soon only be following Formula 1 from afar. Just like Daniel Ricciardo, Mick Schumacher and Nicholas Latifi, the Heppenheimer is contesting his (for the time being) last Grand Prix race in Abu Dhabi. On Thursday he said goodbye to some of his colleagues. As is usual in such cases, a few helmets were also exchanged.

In the gallery we show you the first impressions from Abu Dhabi.
