L ewis Hamilton was well recovered from his defeat at Barcelona. The World Cup leader countered with pole position. In the race he drove flawlessly in the lead for 64 laps. Then the Mercedes command post took him to the pits. Completely unnecessary. Hamilton would have taken the lead home on old soft tires.

So he was only third instead of first. Which doesn't change the fact that he put in a flawless performance. Hamilton had Rosberg and Vettel under control at every stage of the race. That gives the top grade 10. Winner Rosberg only deserves a grade 8. He made two mistakes in qualifying and didn't stand a chance in the race against Hamilton.

Verstappen with light and shadow

Sebastian Vettel made the best of a re-energized Ferrari. It wasn't quite enough for the Mercedes, but he was able to keep Rosberg's pace in the race. The grade 9 for this. Max Verstappen actually deserved this grade too. But then it turned out that there is no substitute for experience. The Dutchman is largely responsible for the collision with Romain Grosjean. There is point deduction for this. He is well served with a grade of 7.

Nico Hülkenberg paid for a mistake in the qualification. Without him he would have ended up in the top ten on the grid, probably would not have met Fernando Alonso on the first lap and would not have had to write off the race with his early pit stop. In the meantime he drove as fast as the top. We give the Force India driver the grade 6.
