D aniel Ricciardo led everyone in Monaco Training sessions. He was on pole position and led from the first to the last lap. Only the fastest race lap was not granted to the two-time winner of the season. There was a reason for that. After the MGU-K failed, the Red Bull driver had to make do with 163 hp less.
The defect resulted in further measures. The brakes cool, protect the engine, manage the tires, get by with just six gears. In addition, Sebastian Vettel for 78 laps in the rearview mirror. 'Perfect problem management under the greatest pressure,' said team boss Christian Horner. That makes grade 10 with three stars.
Verstappen can't make up for mistakes

Max Verstappen was the complete opposite. Once again, one is inclined to say. The sixth incident on the sixth race weekend. This time the price was particularly high. Verstappen was in the best car. A 50 percent win guarantee. And he threw the car away in the third practice session for no reason.
After all, he drove a controlled race on Sunday and climbed from last to 9th place. That alone would have been worth the grade 9. But the accident pushes the Dutchman into the lower regions of the rating scale. Because he threw away a possible victory. That cannot be made good.
Everything faded behind Ricciardo. Also Sebastian Vettel, who was second winner all weekend. Or Lewis Hamilton, who got the best out of his stubborn Mercedes. Or Esteban Ocon, who finished just 4.8 seconds behind Kimi Räikkönen and Valtteri Bottas.
