D The spa weekend began like that for Sebastian Vettel last in Budapest. With a training defeat against Lewis Hamilton on a wet track. Too little battery power and crazy intermediates were plausible reasons, but Vettel admitted that he had lost too much time in the middle sector and in the bus stop chicane on Hamilton for his taste. 'Lewis deserves the pole position.' That is the point deduction that, despite a perfect race on Sunday, no longer earned him the top mark.

His World Championship opponent was once again crowned the god of rain. Hamilton showed Mercedes on Saturday that he is worth his money. But he found his master in the race. Okay, the Ferrari has more power and was faster on the straight. However, the last year has shown that better top speed is not necessarily a guarantee for overtaking. Vettel timed his attacks better this time than in 2017, and Hamilton found no antidote to answer him.

Force India Boys recommend themselves

The revived Force India team rewarded themselves with the places 5 and 6 yourself. Makes 18 points. Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez made no mistakes in the race. They slipped during training because the team was playing poker in the rain with slicks. Perez gave away the possible pole position. If he had crossed the line in time, he could have annoyed the World Cup favorites with almost fresh intermediates in perfect conditions.

Nico Hülkenberg had a pitch-black weekend. He couldn't help starting from the penultimate row. Renault had to change the engine again. The accident at the start was unforgivable. Hulkenberg immediately took all the blame on himself. His brakes in front of La Source destroyed Fernando Alonso, Charles Leclerc, Daniel Ricciardo and Kimi Räikkönen the race. There is only grade 3.
