D he race in Monaco was this year in every way out of the ordinary. After the first pole position in the Principality, it looked like a victory for the world champion for a long time. But the Mercedes strategists did not stick to the script. And so several series came to an end.

Rosberg with double to Monaco hat trick

Previously: If Rosberg wins a race, then another wins in the next Grand Prix - so far either Lewis Hamilton (3x), Sebastian Vettel (3x) or Daniel Ricciardo (2x). But in Monaco the curse was finally broken. Number 9 was followed just 14 days later by the 10th winner's cup for the Rosberg showcase. That couldn't be foreseen.

Another statistic also spoke against a Rosberg victory: This year the German always crossed the finish line in the position he had started the race in. For 64 laps in Monaco it looked like the series would hold in the sixth race. Rosberg was nailed to second place. But then the stable rival turned into the pits and unexpectedly cleared the way.
