Z at the end of the Grand Prix week of There was once again a lot to see Austria at the Red Bull Ring. The last test day of the year was on the program on Wednesday (June 24th, 2015). According to current plans, the next test drives will not take place until February 2016 during a rain test in Paul Ricard.

German Formula 1 fans in particular got their money's worth at the big test final. Nico Rosberg was allowed to run again at Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton was actually planned, but the world champion decided not to use it. The race winner on Sunday did his laps in the Silver Arrow.

In the end, the name Rosberg was once again at the top of the table. The World Cup runner-up set the fastest time of the day in 1: 09.113 minutes. Esteban Gutierrez landed in second place in a Ferrari. During his first official outing in the current Ferrari, the Mexican test driver had to go through the gravel bed just before lunch. Fortunately, not much has happened. Third place went to Valtteri Bottas in the Williams.

Spielberg test final with 2 DTM drivers

Pascal Wehrlein, who was driving the Mercedes the day before, switched to the completely renewed Force India on Wednesday. The DTM driver first had to collect aerodynamic data in the morning. The new nose, which caused quite a stir among the competition, was examined with numerous sensors. The front wing and the baffles under the nose were also new.

Wehrlein was not yet hunting for times with the new parts. The engineers were only interested in the data. The package for Silverstone was not yet complete anyway. In the afternoon, the mechanics screwed on the old parts again, which harmonize better with the rest of the car. After his best time from the previous day, Wehrlein was fifth, 1.140 seconds behind.

Another German driver who normally earns his money in the DTM landed one place ahead of Wehrlein. Marco Wittmann was able to make his Formula 1 debut in the Toro Rosso as a gift from employer BMW. With fourth place, the reigning touring car champion made a great debut. Particularly impressive: With 158 laps, Wittmann completed more than 2 race distances and most kilometers of the day.

In general, the teams for the Spielberg final found significantly better conditions than the day before. Eight of the nine drivers cracked the 100 lap mark. Only theWilliams counter stopped at 79 laps. However, no technical problems were responsible for this, but rather lengthy aero tests and extensive setup modifications. There were only visible problems at Red Bull. Daniel Ricciardo stopped with a brake defect and caused an interruption. The Australian was able to go out again later.

In our gallery we show you what else was going on at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg at the big test final.
