F ernando Alonso does not have the best reputation in the paddock . The driving qualities of the two-time world champion are undisputed, but at the same time the Spaniard is also considered difficult to deal with and not exactly a team player. In addition, Alonso surprises again and again with provocative statements.

The McLaren driver once again produced some headlines in Spa-Francorchamps. In an interview with British TV broadcaster Sky F1, Alonso complained about Red Bull's negative comments during the summer break. 'Those were surprising statements about the fact that I should produce chaos and that working with me is difficult,' says Alonso.

'We have never worked together before. So it was unfair to me. I wrote to Christian (Horner) after the comments in the summer. He then apologized to me by email. β€œ

Alonso angry at Red Bull again

Helmut Marko & Christian Horner deny that Fernando Alonso made an offer for 2019

Now Alonso even demands another apology because Red Bull has denied that they wanted to sign the Spaniard. β€œI had a couple of offers from Red Bull: 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 and two this year - one in Monaco and one in August. And now they say that they are loyal to their own driver program and rely on their junior drivers. ”

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner was confronted with the allegations at the official press conference in Spa-Francorchamps, and he left but directly into the counterattack: β€œTo be very clear: There was no offer to FernandoAlonso for the coming year. Fernando is a fantastic driver and one of the greatest talents in Formula 1. '

Contract offer only 2007

' He has chosen his path. We had a request from Flavio Briatore (manager of Alonso, editor's note) and from Liberty Media, but our position was always clear that we were investing in young people and with the Red Bull Junior program we had our own talent -Pool. We have offered Alonso a contract in the past, but that was back in 2007. '

Horner did not want to hear about an apology. Red Bull team advisor Helmut Marko also denied that Red Bull had contacted Alonso. The man from Graz joked: 'Maybe it was a mechanic or one of our engineers who is a fan of Alonso.'
