D he Renault Mégane RS Trophy-R can be ordered from the end of August at a price from 59,740.10 euros. The new lap record holder for front-wheel drive series vehicles on the Nürburgring Nordschleife and the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps will be delivered from December 2019. A total of only 500 copies will be made, 100 of which are intended for the German market.

The Renault Mégane R.S. Trophy-R is based on the Mégane R.S. Trophy, but is another 130 kilograms lighter. The most important modifications compared to the original model are a carbon fiberglass bonnet with NACA air intake for better engine cooling, a titanium sports exhaust from Akrapovic and an Öhlins racing suspension with adjustable shock absorbers. In addition, exclusively for the Mégane R.S. Trophy-R developed 19-inch low-profile tires from Bridgestone and extra-light fiberglass bucket seats from Sabelt with Alcantara cover.

Optionally with 26,000 euro carbon ceramic package

Even more Racing elements can be found in the Mégane RS Trophy-R with carbon ceramic package. The small series with only 30 vehicles worldwide has 19-inch carbon wheels, 390-millimeter Brembo ceramic brake discs on the front axle with golden brake calipers and modified front air inlet openings in place of the characteristic additional headlights in the checkered flag design at a price of 85,740.10 euros.

As a motorization of the Mégane RS Trophy-R uses the same 300 hp 1.8 liter turbo gasoline engine as the Mégane R.S. Trophy. It accelerates the sports car from zero to 100 km /h in 5.4 seconds and enables a top speed of 262 km /h. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via the 6-speed manual transmission.

On April 5, the Mégane R.S. Trophy-R set a new lap record for series vehicles with front-wheel drive on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife with 7: 40,100 minutes. He then set the corresponding spa record with 2: 48.338 minutes in July.

Review: In 2014, the Renault Mégane RS 275 Trophy R set the Nürburgring record for front-wheel drive series vehicles with a lap time of 7: 54.36 minutes. However, this record did not last long and was later broken by the VW Golf GTI Clubsport S and 2017 by the Honda Civic Type R with 7: 43.8 minutes.
