With its supple suspension, the G LK typical Mercedes strengths in the mid-range SUV segment.


Nine out of ten Mercedes GLK are delivered as diesel in Germany. However, if you find a gasoline engine, you have good arguments when haggling because of the high fuel consumption. Well-equipped 350s are offered for well under 30,000 euros. Admittedly, six-cylinder diesels with their enormous torque, high refinement and low fuel consumption are the better choice. The 2.1-liter diesel in the 220 and 250 CDI (170 and 204 PS) is not quite as confident, but sufficiently lively and extremely economical. The basic diesel 200 CDI with 143 hp, which is only available with rear-wheel drive, has a hard time in the Mercedes GLK.

Thanks to short overhangs and ample ground clearance, the Mercedes GLK also looks good on easy terrain. If you are often away from the paved roads, it is best to choose a model with an off-road package. Basically, the GLK pleases with its comfortable suspension, comfortable seats, low noise level and good clarity. The foldable rear seat ensures average variability.


There is nothing in the processing of the Mercedes GLK to complain about, but the material quality does not quite match the high price level. It wasn't until the facelift in June 2012 that Mercedes upgraded the cockpit.


The Mercedes GLK had it from the start with seven airbags, fog lights, light sensor and ESP as standard. However, pre-safe still costs an extra charge today. In the Euro NCAP crash test, it achieved the top score of five stars.

In contrast to the Bavarian slalom aces BMW X3 and Audi Q5, the Kraxler convinces with Mercedes with superior suspension comfort and not quite as pointed, but sensitive and smooth steering. We also like the hassle-free and safe onesDriving characteristics of the Mercedes GLK as well as good straight-line stability at high speeds.
