With the ST Edition, Ford brings the most active Focus of all time. A chassis that has been optimized all round makes the compact sports car more dynamic.
The Ford Focus ST Edition stands out from the production version with a fully adjustable coilover suspension, an electronic locking differential and weight-optimized 19-inch wheels. As a result, Ford promises exceptional driving dynamics.
Fully adjustable suspension
The tuning of the fully adjustable two-way coilover suspension from KW was developed by specialists at Ford Performance on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, among other places. Central components of the new chassis include twin tube dampers with stainless steel housings and powder-coated coil springs in distinctive Ford Performance blue. As standard, the Ford Focus ST Edition is already ten millimeters lower than the standard Ford Focus versions, and buyers of the edition model have a further 20 millimeters of room to maneuver as an individual setup option. Ford has increased the spring rate by more than 50 percent over the stock ST. The driver can adjust the compression in twelve steps; the rebound stage in 16 stages. A technical manual with recommended suspension settings - including a special Nordschleife setup - is included.
The new 19-inch cast rims can be equipped with more adhesive Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires as an alternative to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S standard tires. The electronic locking differential on the front axle, which is standard in the Ford Focus ST Edition, directs up to 100 percent of the available torque to the wheel with the best traction via a hydraulically operated clutch.
Special specifications outside and inside
In addition, the edition differs from the Ford Focus ST "standard" models through exclusive design and equipment features. The edition model of the fourth Ford Focus generation, which is now available in Germany and in some other European markets (Great Britain, Austria, Poland and Switzerland), will only be launched as a 5-door sedan (hatchback), since the sedan in comparison has the lower starting weight for the tournament. The ST Edition can be recognized by the standard special paintwork in nitro blue. The upper grille, wing mirror caps, roof spoiler and rear diffuser are finished in contrasting gloss black. The roof panel also stands out in high-gloss black, and this special version is also characterized by exclusive ST logos with a black border. The same finish adorns the ST leather steering wheel, gear knob boot, center console knee bolsters and front floor mats. The start button is finished in the same red as the ST logos.
Under the bonnet of the Ford Focus ST Edition, the 280 hp and 2.3 liter turbo petrol engine works together with a manual six-speed gearbox. Ford quotes 41,900 euros as the sales price in Germany.,
Conclusion
With a comprehensive chassis upgrade, Ford wants to make the Focus ST even more fit for fast laps on the racetrack. The ST Edition is only available as a hatchback. But there is no more power.
