BMW 1 Series in the configurator

BMW 1 Series in the configurator
Subscriptions & booklets

F Five variants of the new BMW 1 Series are currently configurable - two petrol and three diesel models. The entry-level model is the 118i with 140 hp three-cylinder from 28,200 euros, the less powerful 116d costs at least 29,900 euros. Entry into the world of the new 1 Series therefore begins at the top of the compact segment: a Mercedes A-Class currently has to pay at least 26,555 euros, Opel Astra or VW Golf are available for well under 20,000 euros.

It is not surprising that the basic 1er comes out of the configurator barely without ticking the box. The black plain paint is standard, any additional paintwork - including the white plain paint - costs an extra charge. The situation is similar with the rims: The 16-inch star spoke is available from the factory, each additional wheel selection costs extra and is also linked to one of the four equipment lines Advantage, Sport Line, Luxury Line or M Sport (800 to 5,250 euros).

The interior with fabric covers and silver-colored interior strips is valued at the factory at least a multifunction leather steering wheel. The screen on the instrument panel is also included (at least in the configurator). But still without navigation function. The ticks for the Connected Package with Consierge Service and Remote Service as well as Teleservices and Connected Drive Services are already set. The same applies to the camera-based Active Guard Plus safety system with collision warning, which is also included. At least a bit of modern technology is already on board at a price of almost 30,000 euros.

Top model with four-cylinder engine

At 48,900 euros, the current top model is of course significantly more expensive : the M135i with 306 hp four-cylinder, standard all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic. For comparison: what is still availableSix-cylinder model M140i xDrive of the rear-wheel drive generation with 340 hp costs 50,550 euros.

Of course, there is no lack of further options in the top model. Since this is the M-Sport model, there is no need to choose an equipment line as usual. A full equipment with the most expensive equipment items is designed as follows: The most expensive paint job is gray and is called Storm Bay metallic for 1,200 euros, for a further 1,510 euros there is a matching black 18-inch V-spoke - also the most expensive offer. 19-inch rims are also available, but not in conjunction with the adaptive chassis for an astonishingly affordable 150 euros.

For the seats, you can choose the normal sports seats with leather covers (1,400 euros). If it is leather, the seat heating has to be on board for another 350 euros. Alternatively, M sports seats with a fabric /Alcantara mix are available for the M135i for 500 euros.

Now it's time to choose the equipment packages. If you want the entertainment package (gesture control, DAB tuner, hi-fi speaker system) for 650 euros, you also have to invest in the 3,100 euros professional business package. Then all kinds of technology come on board, including a head-up display, the Live Cockpit navigation system, telephony with wireless charging, WiFi hotspot and an alarm system. For a further 1,250 euros, the Comfort Package Professional includes comfort access including digital key, steering wheel heating, 2-zone automatic air conditioning, lumbar support for driver and front passenger and more.

If you want assistance while driving, you can still use it to the Parking Assistant for 300 euros (including reversing camera, Active Park Distance Control side parking aid and the parking and reversing assistant. Active speed control with stop & go function is available for 450 euros, the Driving Assistant for 750 euros includes several warning systems.

36,000 euros more expensive than the basic model

Since the new 1 Series is supposed to be more practical, the luggage compartment package, the partition net and the through-loading system should also be an intelligent choice for a total of 550 euros, for a further 500 eurosthere is also an automatic tailgate operation. The most expensive special items now include the panoramic glass roof for 1,100 euros and the electric seat adjustment with memory function for 990 euros.

There is still a little curiosity: although the M135i is already an M-Sport -Model, BMW charges another 300 euros for the M seat belts. The Harman Kardon Surround Sound System almost seems like a bargain for 450 euros.

If all the ticks are ticked, you end up with 66,360 euros on the invoice, 36,160 euros more than the basic 118i model with basic equipment.
