Worldwide, 1,437 Mercedes Sprinters have to go to the workshop because of problems with the ESP and an incorrect torsion bar.
Behind the manufacturer codes V3HADREH and VS3HARDRES as well as the KBA reference number 011873 is a recall monitored by the KBA, which affects 1,437 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles worldwide and 1,038 in Germany. Mercedes-Benz AG has determined that a torsion bar with an incorrect diameter was installed on the rear axle of certain Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vehicles and that the coding of the ESP could be incorrect in some vehicles. In specific driving situations at higher speeds in conjunction with very high steering angle gradients, such as during quick evasive maneuvers, this could lead to a roll-critical state.
The following Mercedes model series is affected:
As a precautionary measure, the Mercedes-Benz service organization will apply the replaced the rear torsion bar and also adapted the coding in the ESP control unit in some vehicles. The planned visit to the workshop for replacing the rear torsion bar and for some vehicles also coding the ESP control unit will take up to 1.5 hours.,
Mercedes-Benz AG calls 1,437 Sprinter vehicles worldwide to the workshop. In certain Sprinter vehicles manufactured between 2020 and 2022, a coding error in the ESP and the installation of a faulty torsion bar can lead to limited lateral stability.
