Hennessey VelociRaptor 1000 based on Ford F-150 Raptor R

Hennessey starts the arms race with the Ford F-150 Raptor R. The sports pick-up with Shelby engine should get more than just plenty of additional power.

So far the Ram 1500 TRX has been Hennessey Performance's favorite toy. Whether with two or three axles, whether with high three or even four-digit performance values, whether with a bare loading area, SUV rear or camping body : The Texans have already put together several different programs for the power pick-up. But now, with the Ford F-150 Raptor R (see video), a serious rival of the TRX is appearing - and Hennessey has no problem devoting his attention to this flatbed truck as well.

In order to classify the engine base of the Raptor R, here are its technical data in the standard condition: Its 5.2-liter V8 - codename "Predator" - charged by a 2.65-liter supercharger - originally comes from the Shelby Mustang GT500 and delivers 710 hp in the top F-150. The maximum torque settles at 868 Newton meters. Hennessey has not yet fully developed the performance increase for the Ford F-150 Raptor R, but has announced almost 1,000 brake horsepower (1,014 DIN PS) and a maximum torque of 1,152 Newton meters for the Velociraptor 1000.

Bigger compressor, better off-road capabilities

This is primarily achieved by replacing the compressor, which gives the hardcore pick-up a 3.8-liter copy. In addition, the tuner donated an optimized air intake, better fuel supply and a new electronic calibration. And by the way, there is still room for improvement: for the Shelby GT 500, Hennessey offers performance upgrades of up to 1,217 hp. For use in the Raptor R, Ford has removed some high-tech components from the V8 engine in favor of more robust parts, but there is still a little leeway for the Hennessey Velociraptor 1000.

The tuner garnishes the body with the usual, which should help the off-road mobility of the Ford F-150 Raptor R in particular. There are new bumpers for both ends of the pickup to improve front and rear ramp angles. The front counterpart also receives additional LED lights as well as a cow catcher and the "Velociraptor" lettering. 20-inch alloy wheels in combination with 37-inch off-road tires rotate in the wheel arches of the Hennessey Velociraptor 1000. A special decor and various badges inside and outside round off the visual makeover.

Start of production in the first quarter of 2023

Hennessey plans to start production of its Velociraptor 1000 in the first quarter of 2023. So far, nothing is known about a possible limitation and price.

Conclusion

The dates are not quite fixed yet. But it wouldn't be Hennessey here if the Velociraptor 1000's engine power didn't end up exceeding the 1,000 bhp mark. But we won't know for sure until spring 2023.
