With the XNH, Abt is showing a camper concept based on the VW T6.1 with a long wheelbase. Only 500 vehicles are to be built.
Tuner Abt goes under the motorhome manufacturers. With the Abt XNH, the Allgäu-based company is presenting a camping conversion based on the VW T6.1 with a long wheelbase at the Free travel and leisure trade fair in Munich. XNH stands for "Explore New Horizons". The Abt XNH is designed and built together with well-known partners from the industry.
Sporty look from Abt
Of course, Abt itself comes with the aero kit, which makes the bus look faster even when stationary. The body package for the XNH includes a new front grille, new front and rear aprons, new side skirts and a four-pipe exhaust system. The foiling with altimeter lines adds a touch of adventure. New alloy wheels should not be missing from an Abt model. The XNH carries 18-inch XNH wheels specially developed for this model, which shine with a black finish and 255/45 tires. An awning that can be extended to two meters provides a shady place to rest. The 150 hp turbo diesel of the T6 remains untouched in this case.
Five seats and four beds
You can't say the same about the interior of the T6. Here everything is designed for living. Our partner for interior design is Vaning. For the furniture surfaces, the XNH relies on scratch-resistant and easy-care HPL on selected real wood panels. The wall cladding consists of flocked GRP molded parts. The insulation is made with recycled material and sheep's wool as well as insulating glass windows - some of which are additionally tinted. The 40 centimeters longer wheelbase of the long-wheelbase T6 version creates space for five seats including a rotating front passenger seat, a kitchen with a two-burner induction hob, 45-liter refrigerator, sink and table. In addition, a pull-out outdoor kitchen with a gas cooker and a storage compartment that can also be pulled out have been accommodated in the rear. Photovoltaic modules on the pop-up roof should ensure a self-sufficient power supply. A lithium-ion battery serves as storage. The 2.00 x 1.30 meter folding bed in the rear offers two places to sleep. Two other passengers can sleep under the pop-up roof. Integrated cupboards and sideboards provide space for travel essentials.
From May 2023, only a maximum of 500 copies of the Abt XNH will be manufactured at VW Group Service GmbH in Hanover. However, Abt has not yet announced prices for the XNH camper.
Conclusion
Abt now also builds motorhomes. With the XNH, the Allgäu-based company, together with partners, has built a camper based on the VW T6. It has a sporty, luxurious design and, with its long wheelbase, also offers plenty of space. Only 500 copies will be built.
