U In order to protect automotive cultural assets, the legislator introduced the H mark in 1997. The H license plate is a special license plate for historic vehicles that were first registered at least 30 years ago and are in a good, original or contemporary restored condition. The owner must have the corresponding condition of his vehicle confirmed by means of a classic car report. The cost of a classic car report can vary from 80 to 200 euros. According to the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), 674,978 cars that are more than 30 years old are currently registered in Germany.
