This Golf GTI only has eight miles on the clock. The anniversary model has now been auctioned first-hand.
On July 31, 2021, Silverstone Auctions auctioned off a Golf GTI anniversary model with extremely low mileage: the LC display in the speedometer shows eight miles. That corresponds to 12.8 kilometers. This makes the already rare GTI a rarity. VW launched the 25-year GTI in 2001 for the model's 25th birthday and gave it a few special features: an aerodynamics package with stronger aprons and a round 90-millimeter tailpipe came as standard, as did 18-inch alloy wheels by BBS. The brake calipers behind are painted red. The GTI has now been sold for £38,250. That corresponds to the equivalent of 44,806 euros - or the new price of a Golf 8 GTI including some nice extras.
Only 3,000 GTI 25s built
The 1.8-litre five-valve turbo has an increase in output of 30 to 180 hp and is combined with a six-speed manual gearbox. This allows the GTI to run at speeds of up to 222 km/h. In the interior, various GTI logos and red seams indicate the special status of the anniversary GTI. The shifter is crowned by a golf ball shift knob. 1,000 units of the special model each were painted in one of the three available colors: reflex silver metallic, black magic pearl effect or tornado red.
Conclusion
The mileage of this Golf GTI is really remarkably low. The price is on par with a new 8th generation GTI.
