After the premiere last year, RM Sotheby's 2020 is coming to the T echno Classica in Essen. Rare and high-performance young timers from the 1990s are to be auctioned: Audi S6 Plus, Mercedes 500E 6.0 AMG and Porsche 911 Turbo R, to name just three examples. The auction house has not yet published estimated prices. Last year the auction in Essen delivered record prices: a Lancia Delta S4 Stradale was auctioned for 1.04 million euros and a Mercedes 500 SEC AMG 'Wide Body' reached a new high of 161,000 euros for this model.

Hartge F1 W124 conversion

The Hartge F1 is unique. In the form of a Mercedes 300 E, 330 BMW horsepower drive up.

This one-off really has it all - in two ways. On the one hand, a lot of horses gallop under the hood of this Mercedes, but that could - on the other hand - also polarize strongly. Why? Because tuner Hartge planted the M88 engine in his creation called 'F1'. A unit that was originally developed for the BMW M1, but later found a home in the M635 CSi and M5 (E28). Two overhead camshafts, each cylinder has its own intake manifold - the machine was developed for racing and therefore had to be able to withstand a lot of power.

Hartge bored out the M88. The result is a displacement of 3.55 liters and 330 hp. The original gearbox of the W124 also had to give way to BMW parts. A manual transmission from the BMW 6 Series is used for shifting(E24) responsible, the retrofitted chassis comes from Bilstein. The car from 1988 is being offered unrestored in its original condition. And the F1 is definitely an original.

Audi S6 Plus Sedan

Really rare: Audi S6 Plus Sedan.

Audi only had 97 S6 Plus in 1996 as Sedan built. The S6 Plus Avant was more common with 855 units, but it was also not a mass model. The most powerful Audi at the time with a 326 hp V8 was only available with a six-speed manual transmission and permanent all-wheel drive. The equipment was basically the same as that of the S6, but also included, for example, Alcantara leather equipment and Xenon lights. The 17-inch 6-spoke wheels are striking. It is the first vehicle manufactured by Quattro GmbH in-house and therefore bears the internal abbreviation Q1.

The S6 Plus on offer is painted in Nogaro blue - one of the two exclusive colors for the Plus model alongside Misano red. According to RM Sotheby’s, the car was 'given to the Spanish daily El Mundo in return for advertising space and moved by the former managing director.' The 4.2-liter V8 engine was overhauled by Quattro GmbH in 2005 and the bodywork recently repainted.

Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evo

Thick cheeks, angular body, round double headlights:Anyone who has watched rallies around 1990 knows the Lancia Delta Integrale: Lancia won six titles with it in the World Rally Championship. The street version is one of the hottest compacts from this time and was the last year of construction in 1994. RM Sotheby’s is auctioning one of 50 'Giallo Ginestra' delivered in Germany in Essen. The yellow paint gave the special model its name, the Recaro seats have yellow stitching on the inside. The numerous round instruments behind the airbag-free three-spoke steering wheel are cult.

The Integrale is from fourth hand and was extensively overhauled in the summer of 2017: the engine and drive were removed, the underside of the vehicle and chassis were overhauled. The electrical system was checked, the engine compartment, body and interior were thoroughly revised. According to RM Sotheby's, the work cost more than 25,000 euros.

Mercedes 500E 6.0 AMG

In 1990, Mercedes put the crown on the then six-year-old W124: the 500E assembled by Porsche was instantly recognizable with its wide jaws . AMG tuned the top model optically and technically. The Mercedes tuner bored the engine to six liters, the body was given aprons, sills and spoilers. The standard 326 first became 374, later 381 hp. Only a handful of 500E tuned AMG.

One of them will be auctioned on March 25th in Essen. The sedan painted in 199 blue-black metallic was delivered in Japan and presumably converted there to an AMG. The car was repainted, got fresh tires, a new battery and engine and transmission service.

Mercedes 560 SEL 6.0 AMG

Another AMG with a six-liter engine: the 560 SEL In contrast to the 500E, however, it did not receive a simple increase in displacement, but a completely new engine with a four-valve cylinder head developed in-house. Makes 385 hp, 85 more than in the most powerful version of the standard M117 V8. Spoilers, light alloy wheels and a radiator grille painted in body color are part of the AMG folklore of the time.

The W126, which was repainted in subtle mother-of-pearl gray, recently got a fresh paint job and new tires. The technology isfreshly serviced, the root wood restored.

Ruf Porsche 911 Turbo R

Ruf converted this 993 Turbo into an R in 2012.

Porsche tuner Ruf traditionally uses the top 911 model Turbo as the basis to increase performance. This is also the case with the 993: the Allgäu specialist gets around 500 hp instead of the standard 408 hp from the twin-turbo boxer. Enough to keep up today.

RM Sotheby’s has a black 993 Turbo R on offer, which was only converted in 2012 and has only moved 10,000 km since then. 'The conversion cost around 55,000 euros,' explains the auction house. The car was partially dismantled, repainted and got the bumpers of the CTR2.
