Lada Revolution 1-3 (2003-2008)

Almost 20 years ago, Lada built a roadster for a one-make cup and developed it into a sports car for the road.

The Lada Revolution is a mid-engine single-seater that the Russian car company Avtowaz built for racing. The engine and driver sit in a space frame clad in aluminum and fiberglass panels. On the rear sits a huge wing. Trade fair visitors may know the car from the IAA 2003 in Frankfurt or the Moscow Auto Show in the same year.

Top speed 260 km/h

The prototype is powered by a four-cylinder with a displacement of 1.6 liters. According to Lada, the power of the mid-engine is between 150 and 200 hp. It is shifted via a sequential six-speed box. The Lada Revolution accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. According to factory specifications, the single-seater reaches a top speed of 260 km/h.

Class winner in the museum

The car was used in one-make cup racing series from May 2004. The racing car was also successful internationally: in 2005 V. Kharlov and V. Dudin competed in the "Horn Grand Prix 1,003 km" in Lithuania. On this occasion, the two drivers took first place in the "A1600" class and second place overall. On October 17, 2019, the revolution came to the Lada Museum in Togliatti. A group of motorsport enthusiasts had previously restored the car. The Lada Museum shows 74 studies, sports cars and production cars. It has been in existence for 43 years and has 20,000 visitors every year.

Lada Revolution 3

Five years after the premiere of the Revolution, Lada showed an advanced version for the road. At 4.20 meters, the Revolution 3 is about half a meter longer, has a roof and two seats. The windscreen is level with the front wheels. The mid-engine, a two-liter four-cylinder turbo, comes from parent company Renault. With 245 hp, the Revolution 3 accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in six seconds. Nothing came of the announced series version, it stayed with the study.


Not many know the Lada Revolution. The Russian sports car is an interesting side note in automotive history and a real character car - with a small engine and good performance, the Revolution is something like the Russian Lotus Elise.
